The Church

The church

We pray that the church will blossom as a beautiful bride; radiating the glory of God to all around; and growing up in unity, to function as the body of Christ, with each part fulfilling its role.

“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.

I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.

Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.” John 17:20ff

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19

We pray that the mercy & justice of God will be outworked in every aspect of care in our city.

“I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Matthew 25:35-36

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27

““Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.

Law & Order

We support the vision of Notts Police Force - to be the best performing police force in England and Wales. We believe that God is going to bless our city with abundant peace (Jer 33:9)

“No longer will violence be heard within your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls salvation and your gates praise.” Isaiah 60:18

“… seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Jeremiah 29:7

Local Government & Politics

Local Government & Politics

We pray for all who are in authority: that our city upholds God’s values; that decisions are based on righteousness, mercy and justice; and that God’s will is done in our city, as it is in heaven. (Ps 89:14)

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Media & the Arts

Media & the Arts

We pray that Godly creativity will be released across all the arts in our city; and for journalists to positively impact the good of our city. We want media that talks about what God is doing here.

"He carried all Jerusalem into exile: all the officers and fighting men, and all the skilled workers and artisans — a total of ten thousand. Only the poorest people of the land were left.” 2 Kings 24:14 ( … this is what a king does when he wants to take over a people … he takes the skilled workers and artisans, along with the officers and fighting men!)

“… I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills — to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. … I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you” Exodus 31:3-6

Business & Commerce

We pray for the prosperity of our city, believing that Nottingham’s abundant prosperity (and peace) will bring God honour and renown (Jer 33:9)

“Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honour before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.” Jeremiah 33:9
